Over the years of having been a student and engaging with students via academic engagements or private tutoring, I've noticed commonalities in the student experience.
The fears, the doubts, the concerns; from assignments to landing a job and everything in between. I had them all too! I've been very fortunate to have met quality people who have taken a vested interest in my career and development, and now I want to pay it forward.
I've been tutoring students one on one in property and construction for just under three years, which has been extremely rewarding. I've seen students grow from strength to strength and be really proud of what they have achieved. My heart always fills with gratitude when they attest some of that success to me, even though it's them who have put in the work and invested in themselves. (Really proud of you all). Equally, I've been a keynote speaker and industry presenter at numerous university engagements, and I love that because I can tie my academia with my industry experience to give students solid advice based on my experiences and what has worked for me.
My service and blog as The Construction Coach is to provide insight into the construction industry and team it with career intelligence to help you, students and graduates build your career in construction. Standing at the outset of the industry looking in can be confusing, complicated, and daunting. To say I had no idea at the outset is an understatement, but since I have been fortunate to experience a rewarding and challenging career that has a lot more to come in it. Plus, like all good builders, we know the importance of solid foundations!
I'm here to provide you with advice based on my experience to help you navigate the early stages of your career. I'll also impart my tips and tricks of getting the most out of university, and still be available for one on one tutoring and mentoring. You'll see features of a whole suite of construction industry professionals, and so many more exciting things.
